She began her career straight out of college with The Starbridge Group, a Management Recruiters International search firm, where she was trained by the President of the Pinnacle Society, an elite consortium of the top billing executive recruiters in the world.
It was at the Starbridge Group that Colleen began to cultivate a meticulous approach to search, in addition to learning the foundation of actual “headhunting”, the ability to find passive candidates, through innovative methods, rather than relying on active candidates or job boards.
In 1999, Colleen moved to San Francisco, where she rode a wave of success during the dot–com boom. She immediately carved out a niche — working on a consulting basis with startup technology companies to recruit and hire difficult to find software and hardware engineers.
When the dot–coms began to plummet, she moved to Southern CA and began working as a technology recruiting consultant for Symantec, during the highest growth period in the company history. Working as the only technical recruiter for their core development site in Santa Monica, she hired 120 software engineers in a year. Over the next 8 years, Colleen springboarded from this success to working with numerous technology companies in Los Angeles, Silicon Valley, New York and Washington, D.C. Because of her experience with a wide range of companies; large and small in various locations, she has a unique perspective on best recruiting practices and processes.
Colleen is a hard–working, dedicated professional who loves rolling up her sleeves and recruiting and hiring bright, talented people for software and internet startups. She also enjoys consulting around recruitment processes for early stage companies that don’t already have a recruiting and/or human resources function in place. She also provides career training and interview training for active job seekers to help them land their dream jobs.
Colleen holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Marymount University in Arlington, VA. She currently lives by the beach in sunny Los Angeles. When she’s not working, she enjoys yoga and spin classes, along with snow skiing and tennis.
